Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) ensures protection of order and security across Georgia to allow Georgian citizens to vote in a free and safe election environment.

Ketevan Kovziashvili, MIA Strategic Communications Department Director, said during the briefing that police special mobile groups were formed across Georgia to react to any law violation case.

Kovziashvili reported that an investigation was launched in the N20 Zugdidi polling station incident that resulted in the detention of five individuals.

MIA also probed into the Senaki N14 polling station case. Other violations have to do with unlawful assemblage near polling stations, canvassing, etc.

Runoff municipal elections are going on in Georgia.
