MIA: Two Georgian border guards released based on the agreement achieved between the sides
According to Ministry of internal Affairs, the Georgian border guards, who were detained by the Russian side, have been released within the shortest period of time as a result of the agreement achieved between the sides.
According to state agency, the representatives of the Border Service of the Russian Federation transferred the two officers of Border Police to the Georgian side at 12:00 today.
“Two border guards of the Lagodekhi Division of the Border Police of Georgia arrived in the Dagestan section of the State Border of Georgia-Russian Federation to open another temporary summer checkpoint according to the planned task.
After some time, communication with the border guards was suspended and their search operation started. The Georgian Interior Ministry’s Border Police Department revealed that the border guards were on the territory of the Russian Federation.
The Georgian side will investigate the incident and carry out all relevant procedures,” the statement of the Ministry reads.
