Georgia’s Prosecutor’s Office (POG) on Thursday filed another charge against the wanted Badri Esebua, accused of a terrorist act, taking a hostage for terrorist purposes, illegal purchase, storage, and possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosive devices.

According to the POG, the Interior Ministry employees have detained Essebua in one of the residential houses in the Jikhashkari village, Zugdidi Municipality.

During Esebua’s arrest, the MIA employees seized Makarov firearms, ammunition, the so-called self-proclaimed Abkhazia passport and a Russian ruble, the POG noted.

For the record, on 21 October, 2020, the accused, armed with a firearm and a hand grenade, broke into the Bank of Georgia branch in Zugdidi and took hostages.

The POG said it would apply to the court with a motion to impose a preventive measure on the accused within the time limit set by law.

In the criminal prosecution of the bank attack, a substantial review is proceeding in court.
