MIA: Police will ensure public order and security as well as freedom of expression of every person
Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has released a statement in connection with the planned events on May 17.
As the statement notes, Protection of human rights is one of the key priorities for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
“Protection of human rights is one of the key priorities for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. Ministry protects freedom of expression regardless of person’s political and other views, gender, religious belonging, sexual orientation, gender identity, etc.
According to the current information, on May 17, 2019, different events will take place on several locations in Tbilisi.
Police will ensure public order and security as well as freedom of expression of every person, as this right is exercised within the frames prescribed by the law.
The Ministry urges the organizers and participants of the events to act in accordance with the law. Otherwise, police will act within its mandate. Every unlawful action will be immediately prevented”, – statement released by MIA reads.
