MIA modifies rules for gas gun purchase/registration

Rules for the purchase/registration of gas guns will be modified from June 7, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported.

Based on the amendment in the decree of the Minister of Internal Affairs, if an individual wants to purchase and register a gas gun, they should submit a permit from the territorial unit to the Service Agency.

The MIA will make a written decision on granting or rejecting the permit following studying the application and other circumstances. The decision will be notified to the applicant within terms set by the Georgian legislation.

Failure to arrive/refusal to arrive at the police administrative building of the person summoned, and/or non-admission of the authorized person in the person’s residential place/guns-keeping place will serve as the basis for rejecting the permit.

A gas gun is a non-lethal weapon used for self-defence and other purposes.
