Last month, officials from the Migration Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs deported 33 foreign nationals. This action was carried out per the Georgian Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons, as reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
According to the ministry, some of the foreign citizens left Georgia voluntarily, while others were forcibly expelled as a result of measures implemented by the Migration Department.
The 33 individuals deported under the Georgian Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons were citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of India, the Republic of Turkiye, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Australia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Iraq, and the Russian Federation.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs statement explains, “The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is responsible for combating illegal migration within the country. One of its key competencies is to identify foreign citizens residing in Georgia without legal grounds and to carry out their deportation from the country.”
