MIA to launch investigation into Zviad Devdariani case

As the responsible agency, the Ministry of Internal Affairs considers to launch investigation into Zviad Devdariani’s case, – Natia Mezvrishvili, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs mad the regarding statement in Actual Topic Program of First Channel hosted by Maka Tsintsadze.

As Mzvrishvili noted, the Ministry did not have an official appeal regarding the case, but the information spread in the Internet can become the reason for launching investigation.

“Unfortunately, nobody has appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for this fact. We have not received any notice or statement with regard to these facts, neither by journalists nor by NGOs nor from people who may have information about these facts.

When we talk about the information spread through the Internet, yes, we were interested in these facts and studied each statement that was spread in the Internet. We saw the signs of certain crimes in the statements and actually made a decision to launch investigation”, – Natia Mezvrishvili said.

Georgian Public Defender Nino Lomjaria named the candidacy of Zviad Devdariani on post of a member of GPB Board of Trustees. Women’s Movement accused Devdariani for sexual harassment of women. Devdariani then lifted his candidacy.
