Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) together with the Ministry of IDPs, Labor, Health and Social Affairs and colleague agencies joined the 16-day annual campaign for violence against women held from November 25 to December 10.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of society about the mechanisms against violence, support of victims, prevention of violence and access to public services.
The campaign was started by activists at the inauguration of the Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991. It is used as an organizing strategy by individuals and organizations around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. Over 5000 organizations from 187 countries mark the campaign.
The UN Women, the US Bureau of Antinarcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs and Sweden are the supporters of the campaign.
