MIA arrests 18 individuals affiliated with criminal underworld

Officers of the Main Department in the fight against organized crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), in cooperation with the General Prosecutor’s Office, conducted special raids in Tbilisi and Adjara, Guria, Samegrelo, and Shida Kartli regions and arrested 18 individuals affiliated with the criminal underworld.

The investigation determined that the arrested individuals mediated between citizens and criminal underworld leaders abroad to settle financial disputes.

The police confiscated guns, drugs and other evidence upon search of their apartments. The arrested persons face up to 15 years imprisonment.
