MFA - The draft report presented by Andrejs Mamikins assesses the process of implementation of the Association Agreement positively
European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs should present the amendments and recommendations to the Association Agreement report which was discussed by the Committee on August 30.
As the First Channel was informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the draft report presented by the Member of the European Parliament Andrejs Mamikins, assesses the process of implementation of the Association Agreement positively as well as the progress of the country on the path of European integration and the government’s effort.
The European Parliament welcomes the significant progress achieved in the implementation of the Association Agreement and political parties and the society`s support on the European agenda.
The draft report supports Georgia’s policy for peaceful resolution of the conflict and its constructive participation in the Geneva International Discussions. The government’s initiative – ” step for a better future” is positively assessed.
The draft report calls on EU Member countries to recognize Georgia as a safe country.
It should be noted that the implementation of Association Agreements is a new initiative of the European Parliament, which will be implemented by the European Parliament independently.
The monitoring concerns the process of Association Agreement implementation by all three associated countries (Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova) – the draft report states.
