MEP Juknevičienė: Elections in Georgia were not democratic. We can't recognize them

Member of the European Parliament, Rasa Juknevičienė, said during European Parliament’s plenary session that “The elections in Georgia were not democratic.”

“We can’t recognize them. The Georgian Dream has not won. We need to call for an independent international investigation,” she stated.

Juknevičienė went on to say that “Georgia’s EU candidate status has already been frozen, it will remain so. we will need to reassess if Georgia remains eligible for the visa-free status.”

“We can no longer justify bilateral assistance to Georgian state institutions. I say all of this with sadness. Georgian people deserve better. They support the pro-European path and the EU supports them.

From now on, the EU must speak very clearly to both: the Georgian society and the Georgian Dream that has stolen the elections from them. EU is not competitive with an oligarchic system. To be even more clear: EU membership is only possible after de-Bidzina-tion [referring to Bidzina ivanishvili] of their country,” she added,
