MEP Anna Fotyga: Keeping Georgia's third president in prison means deteriorating future of Georgia
“Keeping the third president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili in prison as Putin’s hostage means the deteriorating future of Georgia, said MEP Anna Fotyga in the European Parliament on March 14.
The MEP welcomed the courage of demonstrators who protested against the “appalling” so-called Foreign Agents bill.
“Full-scale invasion in Ukraine means a geopolitical shift in our neighbourhood. The Georgian people understand it very well. It is a turning point for all of us in the region. Therefore, I pay tribute to their courage who were protesting the appalling Foreign Agents law.
Also, I would like to mention that keeping the third president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili in prison as Putin’s hostage means the deteriorating future of Georgia. Hopefully, the Georgian government understands it similarly to people’s protests recently in Tbilisi and elsewhere,” she said.
