Media representatives urge parliament to liberalize drug policy, and president to pardon Mamuka Berdzenishvili

The media representatives appeal to the president with a request to pardon the former employee of the First Channel, Mamuk Berdzenishvili.

In addition, the authors of the address call on the Parliament to change the relevant legislation and repressive drug policy.

“Mamuka Berdzenishvili is a yet another victim of state-run fascistic drug policy. More than 2000 people are serving their sentences in prison for personal consumption or possessing minimum doses of drugs” – Giorgi Zurabishvili said.

Mamuka Berdzenishvili, the former employee of the First Channel was detained on charge of purchase and possession of 2 grams of club drugs MDMA. He was sentenced to eight years in prison on March 21, 2018.
