Marneuli Mayor detained

Marneuli Mayor Temur Abazov has been detained. The information was confirmed by the Prosecutor’s Office.

No additional comment is made at the Prosecutor’s Office.

Temur Abazov arrived at the Prosecutor’s Office for questioning late last night, after which, the investigative agency decided to arrest him.

According to the reports, the detention is related to the inhuman and degrading treatment of a Marneuli resident. Monitor Studio prepared a material on video, which shows a man being forced to make humiliating apologise for insulting ruling party officials during the recent rallies at Rustaveli Street.

Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia is conducting an investigation into the case.
