Mamuka Khazaradze: Negotiations on electoral alliance with Gakharia's party not yet finalized
Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of the Strong Georgia coalition, has confirmed that talks regarding an electoral alliance with Giorgi Gakharia’s For Georgia party are still in progress.
After leaving a meeting at the presidential administration, Khazaradze stated, “We have not yet finalized the negotiations. There are some technical issues to address. We have taken a break, and we will inform you of the outcome as soon as possible.”
He noted that, despite differing perspectives on various issues, both leaders have agreed to work together to unseat the Georgian Dream party. Khazaradze expressed his appreciation for President Salome Zourabichvili and Gakharia for their collaborative discussions.
“Our country stands at a crossroads, facing a serious and urgent challenge. The choice is clear: we can follow the Russian path or embrace the path of freedom—the European path. In our discussions, despite our differing views on many matters, we have resolved to unify our efforts to remove the Georgian Dream, under the leadership of Bidzina Ivanishvili, from power. Our shared goal is to swiftly guide the country toward European development and progress,” Khazaradze emphasized.
Addressing past disagreements, particularly regarding the controversial Anaklia Deep-Sea Port project, Khazaradze acknowledged the conflict but stressed that he and Gakharia now agree on the necessity of developing Anaklia with European and American investments. While Chinese participation remains a possibility, the primary focus is on securing Western investment for the project.
