The window of opportunities to bring Georgia closer to the stage of NATO Membership is open – Mamuka Bakhtadze, Georgian Prime Minister said in his speech given during a meeting over the issue of NATO’s expansion held on the sidelines of the 55th Munich Security Conference.

Georgian PM underlined that integration into NATO had vital importance for Georgia since it would help Georgia to build up security capabilities and increase the country’s importance with respect to the implementation of regional projects.

Bakhtadze claimed that Georgia had all practical instruments for membership. “For many years we have had and maintained fruitful cooperation with the alliance in many directions and we should look ahead and speed up the political part of the integration,” PM stated.

According to Bakhtadze, Georgia’s membership of NATO is also in the interest of the alliance. “Hesitation will not help in coping with challenges,” he said. Georgian PM reiterated that integration into NATO and the European Union was a civilized choice of the Georgian people.
