Mamuka Bakhtadze: Under President Trump administration, Georgia-US relation is at the highest level
Under President Trump administration, relations between Georgia and the US are at the highest level, – Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze stated about it during the discussion on Security Issues in Eastern Europe within 55th Munich Security Conference.
“Initially, I would like to say that the United States is our strategic partner and we have very strong bipartisan support. I would like to remark that currently, relations between our countries are at the highest level under President Trump administration. This fact is very clear. The message is very strong. I believe that the policy and strategy of the current administration are perfectly responding to the challenges facing us in the region.
I would like to point to a very important fact. The terms “frozen conflict” and “hybrid war” are becoming popular nowadays, however we have faced a hybrid war since the early 90s. As for the “frozen conflict” that my colleagues mentioned, the absence of direct military confrontation does not mean having peace in the country.
Russia continues to take aggressive steps against Georgia. The so-called borderization process is underway. Nearly every week the fundamental rights of human being violated: our citizens are kidnapped and tortured to death.
The most important and memorable massage of the conference is that the security of the Black Sea region means the safety of the entire European and transatlantic space. This is a very important message that all of us received today. I think this is a huge step forward, “said the Prime Minister of Georgia.
