Majority MP Kadagishvili says funding of NGOs incites radicalism in Georgia
Member of the parliamentary majority, Irakli Kadagishvili, claims that funding provided to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) directly involved in politics is being used to organize revolutions and incite radicalism in the country.
According to him, those opposed to the transparency bill do not want to reveal the funding sources. Kadagishvili stated that the ruling team intends to pass the draft law in the third reading.
“Transparency, often viewed as the cornerstone of democracy, has revealed vulnerabilities in Georgia. The funding of politically related NGOs is being used to incite radicalism and organize revolutions in the country.
Therefore, those opposing the transparency bill do not want this information to become public. They criticize us for wanting to make the country’s processes transparent, democratic, and determined through elections. This is the reality and the double standard that has been exposed.
We intend to pass the draft law in the third reading. The opposition has not provided any specific notes that would indicate their willingness to participate in voting on the draft law,” said Kadagishvili.
