Majority leader: Georgia to continue unilateral friendship with Ukraine
“Unilateral friendship with Ukraine will continue. It is a pity to say that, but we have to tell the truth,” said Mamuka Mdinaradze, leader of the parliamentary majority.
Mamuka Mdinaradze underscored that Ukraine had to hand over criminals to Georgia. He reminded the case of ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili sneaked into the country while the Ukrainian authorities alleged that he was in Truskavets.
“Let them accept our sincere rebukes and hand over criminals. If any platform exists, we support it. We even took the biggest political risk concerning the Hague, joining the demand for sanctions against Russia and holding Russian authorities responsible for war criminals. We joined over 600 documents and what do we see in return? Engaging in narratives which various people lead against Georgia both inside and outside the country,” Mdinaradze said.
Georgian government released a statement on Monday saying hosting Zurab Adeishvili (Georgia’s wanted former Prosecutor General) in the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany as a member of the Ukrainian delegation “undermines the perception that European bureaucracy remains loyal to the ideals of a legal statehood.”
