Mamuka Mdinaradze, the leader of the Georgian parliamentary majority, has expressed his outrage and alarm over the recent assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, calling it a stark example of political violence and subversive actions.
In a social media post, Mdinaradze wrote, “Shocking, outrageous, and alarming – an attack on a presidential candidate aimed at killing him in a cornerstone country of democracy!” He went on to denounce the attack as a tactic of what he termed the “Global War Party” and “liberal fascism,” characterized by political violence, assassination attempts, subversive actions, and propaganda.
“We wish President Trump a swift recovery and return to the electoral battle, peace, victory for democracy, and justice for the American people and the world!” Mdinaradze added. He also criticized agent political parties in Georgia for denying the existence of the Global War Party, calling it a fabrication by the Georgian Dream.
The incident involving Donald Trump occurred during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, where the US former president was shot in the ear. While his life is not in danger, one rally participant was killed, and two others are in grave condition. The FBI has labeled the event as an “assassination attempt” on Trump. The gunman, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by Secret Service agents at the scene.
