Reconstruction of the Tbilisi Sports Palace is set to commence shortly, announced Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze during a municipal government meeting.
According to Kaladze, the Sports Palace has been the primary venue for sports, cultural, and social activities for decades; however, its current condition is far from satisfactory.
The Mayor clarified that the reconstruction will involve upgrades to the flooring, seating, walls, dressing rooms, VIP entrance, furniture, and other facilities.
“Given that the Sports Palace is a historic building, the authenticity of its materials will be preserved. Additionally, the Sports Palace will be equipped with modern, multifunctional systems, including advanced lighting, sound, video, screens, stages, flooring, broadcasting capabilities, special effects, and various other types of equipment,” he stated.
Mayor Kaladze expressed his belief that the renovated Sports Palace will host a variety of sports, cultural, and social events.
“This project will breathe new life into the Sports Palace, creating a unique recreational and sports space for residents in the central, densely populated area of the city,” he concluded.
