Liliane Maury Pasquier – Abkhazia and South Ossetia are inseparable parts of Georgia
We will not reconcile with the occupation. Abkhazia and South Ossetia are inseparable parts of Georgia – Liliane Maury Pasquier, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) said in an exclusive interview with Georgian First Channel.
PACE President said that the Russian Federation had been suspended the right to vote since 2014 after the annexation of Crimea though Russia was constantly trying to regain the right. “All member countries have to meet the commitments and this includes paying of the membership fee. We are working on a sanction system and the dialog regime is the right choice,” Liliane Maury Pasquier said.
PACE President reiterated the standpoint of CoE regarding occupied territories of Georgia. She said that the organization recognized Georgia’s territorial integrity and state sovereignty. She claimed that the CoE was concerned about the situation and disturbing facts. “Relations among the peoples should be stronger. I mean a dialog and the trust should be restored. Contact with people is what will bring to the resolution of the problem. The situation is difficult but restoration of trust may be the way out,” Liliane Maury Pasquier said.
