The reform of taxicabs of Tbilisi, which envisages implementing a visual standard for taxis launches. Within the mentioned reform, licensed taxi drivers will be able to use vouchers in order to repaint their cars and chemically clean their car interiors. The process of issuing the vouchers starts from today.

The aforementioned vouchers will be issued to owners of taxis that have obtained taxi licenses by October 10, 2018 and have successfully passed mandatory technical inspection of their cars.

“The second stage of our taxicab reform is starting, which envisages the implementation of visual standards for taxis. Starting from 1 March 2019, two types of vouchers will be issued. The first voucher is the one that will allow taxi drivers to repaint their cars in order to create a uniform visual standard, while the second one is intended for chemical cleaning of the car interior. Accordingly, taxi drivers who obtained their taxi licenses by October 10, 2018 and own a left-hand drive (LHD), five-door cars that have passed mandatory technical inspection, will receive vouchers within two weeks after visiting the indicated address and following the necessary procedure,” stated Tbilisi mayor Kakha Kaladze.

According to him, owners of taxis are already notified on how to follow relevant procedures and receive the mentioned vouchers.

“Taxi drivers, who own a license and are qualified to receive these vouchers, have been informed via a text message notification. They have been advised regarding how to follow necessary procedures that are required to receive vouchers and how to properly use them afterwards. Furthermore, the abovementioned information is available on the website created by Tbilisi City Hall – www.taxi.tbilisi.gov.ge, where relevant information is posted regarding where to obtain these vouchers,” – explained Kakha Kaladze.
