Lelo party leader urges foreign diplomats to tell people why gov't leave Georgia unprotected
“I want to apply the diplomats and accredited ambassadors in our country. You are representatives of our people in our ally countries instead of the government or Bidzina Ivanishvili (GD founder). You should explain to our people why Ivanishvili and this government destroy friendship built for decades and leave Georgia unprotected,” said Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of the opposition Lelo party.
According to Mamuka Khazaradze, ongoing processes in Georgia and GD’s approval of the “Russian Law” with the second reading jeopardize Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic perspective.
“You are best informed from our strategic partners as the firsthand source. You highly contributed to the formation and strengthening of the country’s western course and actively and directly participated in this process.
Today, your open stance over the issue, which brings change to the country’s western vector and undermines your hard work, has a pivotal significance. Keeping silent now is similar to committing a crime before your country and future generations.
The stance that we are diplomats and make no political statements is unacceptable. The issue deals with our country’s future,” Khazaradze wrote.
