Lelo Party commits to GEL 200 pension increase, aims at GEL 1,000 by 2028
Badri Japaridze, the leader of the opposition Lelo party, stated that if their party comes to power, they will increase pensions by GEL 200 at the initial stage and aim to reach GEL 1,000 by 2028.
Japaridze emphasized the need to address loopholes and reduce bureaucratic costs to reallocate funds towards pension increases.
Japaridze clarified that the intention is to start the pension increase immediately, gradually progressing throughout 2024-2028.
“Primarily, through the reduction of bureaucratic costs and the elimination of corruption loopholes, we aim to free up a substantial amount of funds for pension rise,” stated Badri Japaridze.
Lelo party members also mentioned the potential for additional funds through economic growth and optimizing the existing budget, expressing confidence in reaching the target of a GEL 1,000 pension through these measures.
