Legal Affairs Committee discusses 2024 draft state budget

The Legal Affairs Committee discussed the 2024 draft state budget. Giorgi Kakauridze, First Deputy Minister of Finance, presented the key details and directions of the state budget. The budget for the upcoming year assumes economic growth of 5.2%, with a budget deficit set at 2.5%, and the debt is predicted to be 38.2% of gross domestic product.

The proposed budget allocates 24,161.2 million GEL for expenditures, with more than a third directed towards the Ministry of IDPs, labour, health, and social protection, totalling 7,735.0 million GEL.

Specific allocations for various ministries and agencies outlined in the project are as follows: Ministry of Justice: GEL 400,0 million; Ministry of Defense: GEL 1,370.0 million; Ministry of Internal Affairs: GEL 1,210.0 million; State Security Service: GEL 205,0 million; Special Service of State Protection: GEL 90,0 million; Office of the National Security Council: GEL 4,8 million; Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia: GEL 62,9 million; Special Investigation Service: GEL 18,0 million; Judicial system: GEL 153,7 million; Legal Aid Service: GEL 11 million; Office of the Public Defender: GEL 10,5 million; Personal Data Protection Service: GEL 7 million.
