Legal Affairs Committee backs constitutional amendments on a 120/30 electoral system

The Georgian Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee has backed the constitutional amendments on the transition to a 120/30 electoral system for 2020 parliamentary polls.

Voting took place a few minutes ago. 11 lawmakers supported the draft constitution. None of the lawmakers went against it.

Representatives of the United National Movement and European Georgia did not attend the sitting. They say they will not take part in the voting for the bill unless Giorgi Rurua is released from prison.
