Left Alliance's Dzagania: Any charters signed outside constitution lead to chaos—no gov't can function that way

“How can we discuss policy issues when politicians and call centre representatives are making the most money in the country?” Kakha Dzagania from the Left Alliance spoke on GPB’s First Channel’s program Elections 2024.

“The country is being governed by individuals who illegally acquire funds and use them to control television stations—institutions that should be fundamental instruments of democracy but instead act as mouthpieces for their party ideologies and policies. Our entire society is focused on understanding how these groups, which are stealing vast amounts of our money, can extend their power for several more years to continue their theft. I am eager to discuss our program, but how can I do so when Gvaramia’s director has revealed how Nakopia has been transferring millions through this television station, while Gvaramia claims he does not even know the director of the station he founded? We are witnessing money flowing into Georgia, only to deceive our population and further enrich these individuals. As the investigation revealed, this money was funnelled into this political organization, and after they enacted the transparency law, they allegedly began transferring funds through TBC Bank. How can I discuss our programs when such events are unfolding?”

When asked about the party’s economic and social projects, Dzagania stated that their program focuses on removing criminals and disgraceful politicians from the country. He called it paradoxical that people in Saburtalo gave four times more votes to TBC Bank’s manager Badri Japaridze in the last election, even as he was helping to evict citizens due to bank usury.

“Look what happened – those people remain under bank seizures and in predatory conditions, while those who robbed them are still in power, becoming MPs and entering parliament. For example, I never called Gakharia ‘Tvaltkharia’ (eye-gouger), but now those who did call him that are sitting with him and signing charters with the president,” Dzagania declared.

When the host, Maka Tsintsadze, asked why the Left Alliance hasn’t signed the charter, Dzagania, who identified himself as a Doctor of Law and professor, responded, “I teach my students to act per the Constitution. Show me anywhere in the Constitution where it mentions a ‘technical government,’ and I’ll apologize immediately, leave right now, fall to my knees before the author of the charter, and sign it. When you create and sign charters outside the framework of the Constitution and the law, you are orchestrating disorder; you have already initiated an unconstitutional process. How can you, as president and the primary defender of the Constitution, engage in such an unconstitutional endeavour? There is no such thing as a ‘technical government,’ ‘biological government,’ or any other kind of government. There is only one government, as defined by the Constitution, formed by the winning party that comes in first place. This is clearly stated in the Constitution, so why are you misleading people with this ‘technical government’ nonsense?”

Dzagania concluded by noting that the Left Alliance is a party following European socialism principles, with social issues as its main priority.
