The trial of Lazare Grigoriadis, accused of assaulting a police officer and damaging property during the 2023 March protests in Tbilisi, has been postponed to April 8 because of his absence in court.
Grigoriadis requested remote participation, which was denied by the judge, citing health issues as the only permissible reason for remote attendance. Grigoriadis is required to appear in person for the session.
Only the final statements in the case are pending before the judge can announce the verdict.
Grigoriadis, who was imprisoned on March 31, 2023, faces charges of throwing stones and Molotov cocktails during the protests, resulting in injuries to law enforcement officers. He is also accused of setting fire to a Ministry of Internal Affairs vehicle.
