Law and Justice party leader asks PM, Interior Minister to provide ex-president’s peaceful arrival
At a briefing, Law and Justice party leader Tako Charkviani said that Georgia no longer could live under constant political confrontation in a highly polarized environment.
She claimed that ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili would continue to struggle and give no calm to the current government within the frames of law and justice.
Tako Charkviani called on Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri to avoid further escalation of the situation and rationally think, since the former president, who “contributed much to the building of Georgian statehood” was arriving in the country.
“I suggest that large-scale reconciliation begins in Georgia. You need that. Think for the future. You further distorted the faulty justice system, which existed during the previous government. I ask you to allow the plain land peacefully,” Tako Charkviani claimed.
Mikheil Saakashvili announced he would fly to Georgia on Election Day while the Georgian officials pledged to arrest him upon arrival.
