Kyiv Mayor addresses Tbilisi rally participants

“I’d want to thank the Georgian people for their support of the Ukrainians’ struggle, for your solidarity and position,” Vitali Klitschko, Mayor of Kyiv, remarked while addressing a demonstration on Rustaveli Avenue near the Georgian Parliament building.

As Klitschko noted, Georgian soldiers are fighting alongside Ukrainians for freedom and independence.

“I’d want to thank the Georgian people for their support of Ukrainians’ struggle, for your solidarity, and your position. You know better than anybody else Russian aggression, the troubles, death, and destruction it causes, Russia’s attempts to occupy neighbouring countries.

Georgians not only support Ukrainians morally, we appreciate it. Your soldiers are fighting alongside us for Ukraine’s freedom and independence. We honour the 36 brave Georgians who died for Ukraine. Many soldiers have been wounded, some have been captured since the beginning of the Russian barbarians’ large-scale invasion. We are grateful for your courage, desire for freedom and independence.

I am confident that Ukraine and Georgia, whose people aspire to democratic Europe, will successfully go through this path. Our countries will become members of the European Union,” Kyiv Mayor stated.

A rally to mark the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is taking place near Tbilisi’s Parliament building.
