Kintsvisi Monastery clergyman imposed pre-trial custody

The Gori District Court ordered pre-trial detention into case of the priest of Kintsvisi Fathers’ Monastery.

Reportedly, the clergymen enjoys his right to keep silence. Yesterday, the priest of the Kintsvisi Fathers’ Monastery was charged with attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia, the Shida Kartli and Mtskheta-Mtianeti District Prosecutor’s Office, based on the evidence gathered by the investigation, accused K.K. of attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms.

“The investigation has established that on April 20, 2020, in the evening, in the vicinity of the village of Rieti, Gori Municipality, K.K. fired several shots with illegally purchased weapon, in the direction of S.J., who was driving a car. S.J. managed to escape. Law enforcers arrested K.K. on April 27, 2020”, reads the statement of the Prosecutor’s Office.

The clergyman faces prison term of 7 to 15 years if convicted.
