Mamuka Khazaradze, the leader of the “Strong Georgia” coalition, and Giorgi Gakharia, the chairman of the “For Georgia” party could not reach an agreement to unite their parties for the upcoming October elections.
Following today’s meeting between the parties, the leaders said the consultations would continue.
“Mamuka Khazaradze had to agree on something with his team. Unfortunately, this agreement does not come out yet. We’ll see, we’ll wait,” Gakharia stated.
Khazaradze told journalists, he would not “take a step independently without an agreement with the coalition partners.”
“No one is against cooperation. We offered Mr. Giorgi to join this union and this coalition as an equal partner. I cannot go into details, this is our private negotiation. We will continue the consultations,” Khazaradze noted.
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Monday called on Mamuka Khazaradze and Giorgi Gakharia to unite their parties and invited them for consultations at the Orbeliani Palace.
