Kazakh police detained Internet scammers affiliated with the so-called call centres case, including 24 Georgian nationals, in Almaty.

According to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, mobile operators have blocked more than 15 million suspicious calls from other countries since the beginning of the year. The investigation revealed over 400 crimes related to telephone scammers, who introduced themselves as bank employees and issued online loans to Kazakhstanis.

Another popular scam was underpriced sale ads. The criminals posted them and then asked the buyers for an advance payment. Such a scam was revealed in Astana.

In Shymkent, the police detained a criminal group whose members stole the client base of the pharmaceutical company Health Time, called customers and reported that they had won a car. Citizens were offered to pay taxes, which were transferred to accounts at the 1Xbet betting company. Twenty such victims have been identified.

The police continue to search for other victims of the Internet scam.
