Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, on a visit to Milan, met with his Milanese counterpart Giuseppe Sala.

According to Tbilisi City Hall, the officials discussed relations between the two countries and prospects for deepening cooperation between Tbilisi and Milan across various areas.

The conversation touched on the opening of Georgia’s General Consulate in Milan, which the mayors said would help establish even closer ties between both countries and cities.

“Georgia and Italy have a long history of cooperation, and there are close relations between our peoples. I hope cooperation between Tbilisi and Milan will deepen further in all directions, for which I personally, as Tbilisi’s mayor, will spare no effort,” Kaladze noted.

According to Tbilisi City Hall, Milan’s mayor thanked Kaladze for the visit and expressed full readiness to develop cooperation between the cities.

“I am ready to help deepen cooperation between Milan and Tbilisi in various directions. I also want to offer you participation in C40 Cities – a global network of cities fighting climate change. This is both a political and technical network, specifically for mayors’ involvement. The opening of Georgia’s General Consulate in Milan is a very good opportunity for developing bilateral relations,” Sala stated.
