Justice Minister meets Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs
The Georgian Justice Minister, Rati Bregadze, met with James O’Brien, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
The meeting focused on the existing cooperation between the two countries in strengthening security, democracy, and human rights in Georgia.
Minister Bregadze provided information about the reforms implemented in the penitentiary system. The discussion also touched upon the legal support for the de-occupation process and the role of the Ministry of Justice in this context.
Minister Bregadze highlighted the significance of the historic decision of the European Court of Human Rights in the interstate case Georgia vs. Russia, emphasizing its importance as a crucial legal document for the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity.
The parties also discussed Georgia’s process of joining the European Union and the upcoming 2024 elections.
