Justice Minister accuses radical opposition of exploiting Saakashvili's health for political gain
Georgian Justice Minister Rati Bregadze declared that the government is doing everything possible to ensure Mikheil Saakashvili’s right to health. As he stated at today’s press conference, the government has always ensured Mikheil Saakashvili had the required medical care.
“He was always provided with proper and adequate medical care, both locally in the penitentiary institution and the treatment facility #18, as well as at Gori Military Hospital. He underwent medical treatment at the 12th penitentiary facility but chose not to complete it. To avoid future risks, he was taken to the Vivamed clinic. Currently, he is under the supervision of the medics. The state is doing everything for this specific prisoner, as well as every other prisoner, and will continue to do so in the future,” Bregadze stated.
According to the minister, some opposition members are attempting to exploit Saakashvili’s health for political gain.
“We also heard the lawyer say that the health report would be kept confidential and that no one would have access to it. However, when politicians debate Saakashvili’s health, they draw their own invalid conclusions. Using this for political goals is not entirely appropriate or ethical,” Rati Bregadze went on.
