Jailed ex-President to engage in "bringing new people" to Georgian politics
Jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili said that the opposition should have no illusion that youngsters would take to the streets before elections.
In his letter, which the UNM member Sopo Japaridze read out, Mikheil Saakashvili said: “I am here and plan to become actively engaged in the unification of worthy persons and in bringing new people to Georgian politics.”
According to the ex-President, Georgia is an invaded and imprisoned country, and the solution is in unity; the ruling Georgian Dream will fail in generating conflict among the opposition’s “talking heads.”
“The Georgian Dream no longer has real ideological supporters. Russia and Ivanishvili are on the wrong side of history. Ukraine will defeat Russia with the help of the West, thus laying the foundation for Russia’s disintegration.
Azerbaijan’s restoration of territorial integrity and Armenia’s open shifting to the West have disrupted Russia’s central paradigm in the South Caucasus. Russia no longer has the support of any people among the three countries of the Caucasus,” Mikheil Saakashvili said.
