Jailed ex-president Saakashvili calls for UNM to take central role in new phase of struggle

Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili addressed the United National Movement activists. As Saakashvili writes, the party’s experience is invaluable, and its role must be central at this decisive new stage of the struggle.

“My loyal comrades-in-arms, the elections were rigged, especially against us! At the same time, I am very proud of how our party fought before and on the day of the elections. We truly have an extremely resilient organization, which has also been joined by a very interesting youth. My friends, the Russian system is on the other side, but at this new decisive stage of the struggle, our experience is priceless, and our role must be central. Now, relying solely on foreign help is a mistake; we must have coordination with other political forces, but the focus should be on the people and the urgent organization of mass rallies.”
