Jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili proposed the opposition to establish a Political Activity Unity Committee, a Super PAC.
Mikheil Saakashvili believes the committee should have 20-25 members in regular coordination.
“We need full coordination of the opposition despite their different viewpoints. Power is in unity, and I fully agree with it. I would like to propose the opposition establish a Super PAC together with the United National Movement (UNM), similar to the committees in the US,” he said.
The committee should be made up of members from the UNM Political Board, the UNM faction chair, other well-known public figures who are not necessarily UNM members, and Sopo Japaridze, who will represent the ex-president.
According to the ex-president, the Super PAC should be a “place to generate ideas.” It should be “free of bureaucracy, flexible and represent a structure of national accord.”
“It will be a place for quick response and a dialogue. Under no circumstances should we get locked up, join this committee, discuss together, and create an unambiguous environment for us to expand and fight. We should do everything together to move forward very quickly,” he said.
