Jailed ex-president pledges change and renewed commitment to serve

“While everything will change from our nine years in government, our commitment to serving the people remains steadfast,” said jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili via a video link during today’s court trial.

Saakashvili highlighted that the United National Movement (UNM) party is focused on the future.

“I commend the opposition’s communication. My number is 5, and my party is the UNM. I’m pleased that two-thirds of our electoral list consists of individuals who have never held power. The past is behind us; we are looking forward. The UNM is committed to the future.

Now, more than ever, we need mobilization. All expatriates who vote abroad should come back and vote here. We, the UNM, are preparing to secure first place and collaborate with all patriotic forces. While much will change from our previous government, our devotion to serving the people will not waver,” he stated.
