Jacek Czaputowicz – We call on Russia to reverse recognition of Georgia’s occupied regions
“No country can violate borders of another country through force,” Jacek Czaputowicz, Foreign Minister of Poland made this statement being on a visit in Georgia together with Foreign Ministers of Lithuania, Latvia and Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine at the occupational line in connection with the 10th anniversary of August 2008 Georgia-Russia war.
According to Czaputowicz, Poland supports Georgia’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. “We call on Russia to reverse recognition of Georgia’s occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region and withdraw its troops from those territories,” he said.
Foreign Minister of Poland welcomed the peaceful initiative of the Georgian government “A Step for Better Future.” “The peaceful initiative is a clear and strong political signal for locals residing in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali and brave initiative with respect to peaceful reintegration,” Czaputowicz said.
Foreign Ministers of Lithuania, Latvia and Poland and Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine arrived in Georgia on August 6. The guests will take part in a round-table meeting “For Peace and Security – 10 years after 2008 Georgia-Russia war.”
