Italy backs decision to accelerate EU integration of Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, President Zourabichvili says
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili Wednesday recapped the Italy visit, saying Italy firmly stands by Georgia.
“I heard the agreed stance that a decision should be made to speed up the European integration of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova,” the President briefed GPB First Channel.
“This is Italy’s concerted position – we stand by your side. We believe that a decision should be made today for Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, as well as the Eastern Balkans, among others. But for you [Georgia], a decision must be made to speed up the European integration process,” President Zourabichvili underscored.
Zourabichvili stressed the trip made the first official visit of the Georgian President to Italy in 25 years.
Georgian President held top-tier meetings in Rome with his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella, Prime Minister Mario Draghi, President of the Senate, the upper chamber of Parliament, Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, and President of the Chamber of Deputies Roberto Fico.
