Irakli Kobakhidze - NATO should have a more proactive action strategy towards Georgia
In July 2018, the NATO summit will take place in Brussels, which should become another step forward on the path of Georgia’s integration into NATO, – Speaker of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze said at the NATO-Georgia Public Diplomacy Forum.
According to him, 10 years have passed since the Bucharest summit, at which the NATO member countries agreed that Georgia will definitely become a member of NATO. During 10 years, along with political support for Georgia’s aspirations, NATO-Georgia practical military cooperation has been gradually grown.
“Today, Georgia is more protected, prepared and less vulnerable than in previous years. I want to thank all the NATO member countries that contribute to the strengthening of our country’s defense capability.
However, it should be noted that all delays in tangible and significant progress on NATO membership path can further strengthen the skeptical position and damage the process of Euro-Atlantic integration, ” – Irakli Kobakhidze said.
According to him, such threat has always existed and will exist in the future.
