The National Movement has moved on to direct destruction. They are attempting to discredit the election process completely, since they know that they are definitely losing the elections, – Irakli Chikovani, the head election headquarters of the Georgian Dream’s mayoral candidate made this statement.

As Irakli Chikovani noted public and absolutely all relevant bodies should approach these provocations with as much patience as possible.

“Only several days remain before our victory, before we can formalize Gega Shengelia’s and the Georgian Dream’s convincing victory. At this point, I would also like to stress that we are actively cooperating with the international community, we have direct communication with them from here, as well as from the central headquarters and we are providing them with all the information, in order to avoid such excesses. Everyone can clearly see that all the actions are destructive in nature and that the National Movement does not hide that they are counting not on the residents of Zugdidi but on the persons that they are planning to bring to Zugdidi. They themselves do not hide that they wish to bring several thousand people to Zugdidi. I’m addressing the residents of Zugdidi and the Zugdidi municipality, asking them to maintain absolute calm and to contact law enforcement representatives regarding all violations of laws” – Irakli Chikovani said.

According to him,  Law enforcement representatives are prepared to instantly react to all violations, regardless of who may perpetrate them or whose supporter they may be.

“We are interested in the elections proceeding in a peaceful manner, and for Zugdidi not to become a test firing range or the epicenter of political battles, as the National Movement attempts to present it. The next issue that I would like to stress is that we are preparing for the election day in an organized manner. We have all kinds of preliminary data, according to which Gega Shengelia is set for a convincing victory. On the 19th of May, our activists, our supporters will be mobilized so that when they come to the elections and support us, we have their agreement and they will have special lists. These lists will ensure that we will be able to log all of our voters who come to the location. This is a very important process. We will also have opportunities to record video material in order to avoid all types of provocation that can take place at the electoral precinct. I’m also calling on our members in the commissions to remain as calm as possible regardless of the tense situation within the commission, to make use of all the procedures and to conduct the election day according to the procedures. We are ready for the elections and we are certain that we will celebrate a victory on the 19th of May”, – He said.
