The Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meeting is underway in Ergneti village, bordering Russia-occupied Tskhinvali region.
The meeting focuses on recent incidents along the dividing line between Georgia and the occupied territories.
Irakli Antadze, Deputy Head of the Information-Analytical Department of the State Security Service of Georgia (SSG), highlighted several key issues ahead of the meeting, including cases of illegal bordering and the detention of Georgian citizens.
“Since the last meeting, eight cases of illegal bordering were recorded in the Gori and Kareli municipalities, where iron poles were installed, and so-called fire protection lines were arranged in multiple sections.
Additionally, six Georgian citizens were illegally detained. On September 10, two foreign citizens, identified as citizens of Tajikistan, were arrested but have since been released. Additionally, a father and son from the Jokhadze family were also detained; the elderly father has now been released. Currently, ten Georgian citizens remain in custody,” Antadze said.
