Investigation Service: All registered timber enterprises will be check, despite their ownership
Within the current investigation, Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia will check all registered timber enterprises, despite their ownership. Investigation Service released the regarding statement.
According to the agency, at this stage, two checks for the foreign companies (Chinese and Iranian) are appointed, the main sphere of activities of which is timber processing and selling.
“For today, investigative activities are being carried out throughout the territory of the country. The checking is already being performed in 52 timber enterprises. Within the activities, at this stage, 23 timber enterprises without registration are detected and tens of cubic meters of wood materials are seized. In order to check the legality of timber selling, the inventory is being carried out in more than 150 timber-selling objects at the markets of the cities of Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi” – the statement reads.
Investigation is underway under the Articles 210, 192, 2871 and 303 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
