Interior Minister says protesters can turn over or overturn in their offices but stay away from gov't buildings
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri, addressed the developments during rallies near the parliament.
Gomelauri noted that the police were careful to act within the law during the demonstrations and attempted to avoid clashes to prevent injuries.
“We have been watching at least half of the facts live on air. What they were doing, conversations, coups, upheavals, takeovers and overturns. They can turn over or overturn their offices but stay away from the parliament and other state agency buildings.
We saw young people breaking doors and setting fire to the parliament. Not a single policeman intervened to avoid clashes and injuries. We considered this as much as possible,” Gomelauri said.
He criticized the statements from diplomats accusing the police of excessive use of force, calling these claims ridiculous and stating, “They tell us black is white, which is sad.”
