Inter-Party Group demands vetoing changes to be made into Law on Political Parties
The Inter-Party Group consisting of representatives from parliamentary and non-parliamentary oppositional parties demands vetoing changes proposed to be made into Law on Political Parties by President.
Oppositional parties object to the change based on which Majoritarian (single mandate) MP, in case of forming a faction in parliament, will be assigned the status of qualified entity and will receive financing from the budget.
Inter-Party Group believes that the ruling team tries to strengthen satellite parties ahead of the elections with the change to make the parliament pseudo-multiparty in the future.
The change refers to Industrialist Party which has one MP – Khashuri Majoritarian Simon Nozadze. Nozadze formed faction in the parliamentary majority. Author of the change was MP Gia Zhorzholiani together with Nozadze.
