Initiative of MP Roman Gotsiridze not backed at Finance and Budget Committee session

The Parliamentary Finance and Budget Committee did not back the initiative of minority MP Roman Gotsiridze. The initiative envisaged that financing of Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) was not attached to the amount of Gross Domestic Product and was dependent on taxes paid by citizens.
Majority MPs believe that the current rule is the guarantee of GPB’s independence and must not be changed at this current stage.
The initiative was discussed with the first reading today.
